I think this is officially the "Pasadena?? Again??" Bowl
p.s. I'm not complaining about going to the Rose Bowl 3 times in 4 years. I know that the Rose Bowl was the highest achievement available until the mid 90's, USC's tradition lies in Pasadena, we could be in the Emerald Bowl or worse not in a bowl, Paul Hackett replaces Kiffin (probably the only scenario I'd miss Lane), and that I just look like a spoiled fan right now.
But let's face it, the current structure allows SC to travel to other prestegious bowls like the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and BCS Title game. We've made it to the BCS Bowls, but only played the Big Ten and Big XII, while the ACC and SEC keep telling us how shitty we are because of the Pac-10. It'd be nice to mix things up and start settling things a bit more on the field. After all, isn't that what this new Bowl System helped create?
Don't get me wrong though. I am going to Pasadena and enjoying the fuck out of another USC vs Michigan classic Rose Bowl. |

| To Lisa Love, Athletic Director of Arizona State University
I would like to take this time to make a recommendation for your vacant Head Coaching position, USC Offensive Coordinator, Lane Kiffin. I understand you previously worked with Mr. Kiffin during your time at USC and that he is among your candidates for the job. As a USC alum, season ticket holder, and donor, I would strongly encourage you to hire this young and promising coach. He has spent many years on Pete Carroll's staff, overseeing some of the best offenses and receivers in the country, and has much experience in a big-time, Pac-10 system. He not only has the experience, but also the bloodlines, as he is the son of legendary defensive guru, Monte Kiffin.
Lane is well known for his recruiting prowess and he called the plays for the greatest offense in college football history. His play calling could be considered genious as they allowed Matt Leinart to audible out and become a college football legend. His output is also consistent. Every given week everybody, including the opponents, know exactly what play is coming. What some call predictability, I call reliability. You know you will get more than your fair share of WR screens, slants, and telegraphed runs and you can guarantee that when it comes time to play smashmouth football, Kiffin will get cute and overly creative. Creative offensive minds are valuable, right?
Please note that he, not Norm Chow or Steve Sarkisian, is the who gets the credit for the state of the USC offense right now, and please hire Mr. Kiffin before he gets away. If you decide not to do so, please recommend him to other schools looking for a new head coach and get him the fuck away from our campus. Please.
Sincerely,
Cory Hayashi |
